LSU Awards 1,931 Degrees During Fall Commencement Ceremonies

LSU awarded 1,931 degrees during the university’s 312th commencement exercises Friday, Dec. 15. These new LSU alumni and their hometowns can be viewed on the LSU Graduates List on the LSU Commencement website.
1,313 students earned undergraduate degrees or certificates and 618 received graduate degrees or certificates. Twenty-three LSU employees were among the graduates.
The fall graduating class represents 53 Louisiana parishes, 47 states and 38 total countries. The oldest graduate was 72 years old and the youngest was 19.
Among the graduates, 190 graduated with honors, receiving the designation of summa cum laude, magna cum laude or cum laude. Twelve students received the University Medal for graduating with the highest undergraduate grade-point averages in the class.
The LSU Roger Hadfield Ogden Honors College recognized 5 students who earned College Honors for participating in a specific honors program and successfully completing and defending an undergraduate thesis.
Two graduates who participated in LSU’s Army ROTC program were commissioned into the Armed Forces at a commissioning ceremonyThursday, December 14. Alberto Ontiveros, a native of Gonzales, was commissioned into the Army Reserves as a Second Lieutenant in the Adjutant General Corps. Bailey A. Scott, a native of Denham Springs, was commissioned as an Active Duty Second Lieutenant in the Military Police Corps.
Every graduate who attended commencement was called onstage individually at separate ceremonies for each college.
