E. J. Ourso College of Business Student Organizations Earn Awards

November 12, 2025

The LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of two of its student organizations, Beta Alpha Psi and Delta Sigma Pi.

"The Ourso College is home to a dedicated group of student leaders whose efforts improve the student experience," said T. Russell Crook, dean of the E. J. Ourso College of Business. "We are especially proud of Beta Alpha Psi and Delta Sigma Pi for receiving notable recognition and, more importantly, for enhancing programming and opportunities for their members."

Beta Alpha Psi

This summer, the Phi Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) once again earned top international honors, securing first place in the Best Practices Competition sponsored by Deloitte. The repeat win underscores the chapter's commitment to leadership, innovation and professional growth.

Open to more than 300 chapters, the competition invites students to share programs that reflect BAP and Deloitte's core values. Representing LSU, executive board members presented three projects at the 2025 Mid-Year Meeting. Mary Caroline Wilcox (BS Accounting '25) and Brent York (BS Accounting '26) earned first place with "Impacting Connections in Your Chapter: Breaking Barriers through Collaboration and Transformation."

York and Alexander Biernacki (BS Accounting '26) later advanced the project for the annual meeting, spotlighting the chapter's collaboration with the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) at LSU. Together, the groups aligned meeting schedules, encouraged dual membership and co-hosted events to increase inclusion and engagement.

Internally, the chapter revamped its meeting format to better serve more business majors by replacing traditional firm presentations with interactive panels. These efforts strengthened membership diversity and established a foundation for continued collaboration.

The LSU Phi Chapter also achieved Gold Chapter recognition for 2024–25. This honor acknowledges the chapter for far exceeding BAP baseline requirements and excelling in academics, professionalism and ethical leadership.

The BAP Phi Chapter serves students majoring in accounting, finance and information systems & analytics.
