Department of Public Administration’s Suzette Caleo Named to Governor’s Women’s Policy and Research Commission

Gov. John Bel Edwards recently announced a new set of appointments to various Louisiana boards and commissions. Included in this announcement, Department of Public Administration Associate Professor Suzette Caleo was assigned to serve on the Louisiana Women’s Policy and Research Commission as a member with gender, diversity, and organizational justice expertise.

Caleo currently teaches diversity, equity, & inclusion in public and nonprofit organizations, organizational analysis for public and nonprofit organizations, data analytics, and applied data analytics for public administration. In addition to her time in the classroom, she conducts focused research on areas including gender bias, organizational justice, workplace diversity, stereotyping, and discrimination. Caleo also serves as the faculty coordinator for diversity, equity, and inclusion, leading the DEI strategic planning efforts for the college.  

"My research focuses primarily on understanding the conditions that facilitate and mitigate gender discrimination in the workplace. I am thrilled to be able to apply that knowledge to serve the state of Louisiana, and I am looking forward to working with other members of the commission and the community to better understand and improve the status of women in our state," added Caleo.

The Louisiana Women’s Policy and Research Commission serves to research, collect facts and statistics, and make special studies of conditions pertaining to the employment, health, safety, and financial status of women in the state of Louisiana.

 

Governor’s Office on Women’s Policy

The Governor’s Office on Women’s Policy (OWP) supports public policy that promotes the educational, health, social, and economic well-being of women and girls in Louisiana. A primary function of the office is to serve as a connector between non-profits, state and federal agencies, educational institutions, legislators, and concerned citizens to promote effective collaborations to further the status of Louisiana women. This includes working collaboratively with the Louisiana Legislative Women’s Caucus and the Louisiana Women’s Foundation. The office provides strategic support and leadership to the Louisiana Women’s Policy and Research Commission and the Domestic Violence Prevention Commission.
