Gameday Recycling Challenge Schedule

LSU has chosen the Texas game for the 2026 National Wildlife Federation’s Campus Race to Zero Waste - Gameday Recycling Challenge.  We are going bigger than Texas this year on our efforts in hopes of reclaiming the coveted national title and seeking all Tigers to come out and support by signing up to participate in the list of activities below.

How Students Can Participate?

  • Friday, November 13th - Anytime between 9 am and 6 pm.
    • Student Organizations are needed to help set up recycling bins around designated tailgates. A $75 donation will be provided to each student organization that can deploy 100 recycling bins in distinct locations. MUST have at least 4 students registered per student organization to be eligible for the donation.
    • Sign-up form coming soon!
  • Saturday, November 14th (All Day, leading up to kickoff)
    • Students and fans are encouraged to come out to the Waste Pro tent in front of Matherne’s and pick up recycle bags to distribute to tailgates without recycling bins and encourage them to participate. All recycle bags tied off and separately placed from trash at the tailgate will get picked up as recycling and contribute to the tally numbers for the challenge. Students and fans can email green@lsu.edu to request to pick up recycling bags before Saturday, to have them in preparation for the game.
  • Sunday, November 15th ( 4 am – Collection Completion)
    • We will begin collecting recyclables within Tiger Stadium and throughout campus grounds at 4 am on Sunday, prior to the cleaning crew’s arrival time. The Tiger Stadium collection will be facilitated by the Osprey Initiative, who will be providing $50 stipends to students who arrive on time and assist with the entirety of either the stadium or the campus grounds recyclables collection.
  • Sunday, November 15th (Recyclables Sortation & Weighing)
    • After collection, all items will be transported to the LSU Recycling Sortation Center to be sorted and weighed. Students who help sort all of the Game Day recyclables will also be provided with a $50 stipend to keep individually or to go toward a student organization. Participants who assist in the entirety of both the collection and sortation will receive $100 for their efforts.
