Anticipated graduation date: Fall 2021
I, Subbah Mir, am a Pakistani studying here as PhD student on Fulbright scholarship. I have been making use of my leadership skills all my life. I am already a part of almost every function of International Cultural Centre. It’s been a year, I have been volunteering without any credit or position. I feel that if I want to work with ICC with the same passion then holding a position would make me more dedicated. Presidency or no presidency, ICC is my home in U.S. and I’ll continue serving it either way!

Vice President (one position; two candidates):

1) Dideolu Daniel
Citizenship: Nigeria
Major: M.S., Biological Engineering
Entered the program: Spring 2017
Anticipated graduation date: Fall 2018
Leadership positions held in the past (in or outside LSU):
- Graduate School Senator, LSU Student Government
Hi! My name is Dideolu. I grew up in Nigeria and my background is in renewable energy. I’m pursuing my Master’s degree in biological engineering here at LSU and I came to LSU because I’m really interested in thinking of ways to advance a global economy that thrives on clean energy. I don’t have the answers, but I am hoping to be exposed to that. Outside of the lab I have been actively involved in the LSU Student Senate where I currently serve as a Senator for the graduate school. My time in the Senate has afforded me the opportunity to shape policy and influence decisions on graduate fees & assistantships, conference and student travel awards, and University-wide research and economic development initiatives. Other than that, I am passionate about driving positive outcomes for my constituents towards a safe, rewarding and “home-away-from-home” campus experience here at LSU. As the Vice President (ISA), my goal is to be your trusted ally – as an international undergrad or graduate student – across campus and specifically in the Student Senate. I’ve been thinking about some great ideas for the coming year, such as:- i) Working with incoming team members on the ISA/ICC Executive Board to keep the standards high in planning and executing our awesomely elegant cultural, social, and service events all year round.
- ii) Engaging in constant consultations and advocacy with University decision markers and working on initiatives and legislations focused on international students – to ensure an enriching campus-life experience for us all here at LSU.
- iii) Deepening relations with the offices of International Services, Academic Affairs, Diversity; and other University-wide offices on making LSU a school of choice for the entire international student body at LSU

1) Malaika Edwards
Citizenship: Jamaica
Major: Ph.D., Leadership and Human Resource Development

As an international student, I believe it is important for college campuses to implement programs that provide the opportunity for cultural exchange amongst diverse student populations. I believe also that the offices of the International Student Association and the International Cultural Center are particularly important in executing programs, that can promote interaction and learning amongst students from different countries.
In light of the above, I am particularly interested in the role of Secretary with the International Student Association (ISA). As a Jamaican, I enjoy cultural diversity within the Caribbean region, and I recognize how this diversity has played a great role in positively shaping the Caribbean community. I believe the post of Secretary will allow me the opportunity to contribute my knowledge and experience being from a diverse region, in aiding the ICC/ ISA to carry out its mandate. In addition to this, my professional experience will allow me to effectively execute tasks associated with the role, thereby enhancing the experience of international students at LSU and enriching the lives of the International student community

I'm interested in applying for this role because I want to help people enjoy the sports that different cultures have to offer. I'm a fitness studies major and have been involved with many different sports my entire life. I want others to experience the same pleasure that I did when I played sports. Furthermore, I want to meet people from other cultures and learn from them. Moreover, while being at LSU I have been a player on the football team which has developed my leadership and people skills.
