LSU Vet Med Professor named new Director of Graduate Education

Juan Martinez, PhD, professor in Pathobiological Sciences, is the new Director of Graduate Education effective September 12, 2022. The
Director of Graduate Education is a senior-level faculty position that oversees the operation of all graduate education programs at LSU Vet Med. This position provides vision and leadership for the School’s graduate education mission and will help build upon the already strong reputation that the School enjoys for education. The Director will also work to foster diversity, inclusion, and a sense of belonging among our student body. Fostering a sense of belonging among our international students will be a particular emphasis for the role. In his new role, Dr. Martinez will work to promote the recruitment, retention, and success of students in our numerous graduate and dual degree programs.
"I am very excited to assume this new role. One of my goals is to improve the recruitment of talented prospective graduate students to our programs at LSU Vet Med. I would like to market the innovative biomedical research that occurs within our building," said Dr. Martinez.
"Juan was selected because he has an exciting plan for recruiting the best and brightest that Louisiana has to offer. We look forward to paving the way toward undergraduate engagement across the state and increasing the visibility of our biomedical research prowess here at our school," said Tammy Dugas, PhD, associate dean for research and graduate education.
