Interested in applying to LSU Vet Med to pursue your Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, Master's (MS) degree or Doctoral (PhD) degree, Advanced Training (internships or residencies), Externship, or Career (Job Opportunities)?

Please note that MS and PhD candidates do not need to have a research interest in veterinary medicine and research does not need to benefit animals. LSU Vet Med is a biomedical research institution as well as a veterinary school. Our researchers' investigations cover a wide range of disciplines, including cancer biology, disease processes, cardiovascular disease, infectious and parasitic diseases, neurosciences, toxicology, bacteriology, and more.

We care for an array of species and see approximately 21,000 cases each year. We offer specialty services as well as primary care. Our comprehensive care allows us to treat a variety of illness and injuries. We are open 24/7, 365 to provide care for your animal.

LSU Vet Med issues Call for Entries for its International Exhibition on Animals in Art

The LSU School of Veterinary Medicine is asking artists from around the world to enter its 32nd Annual International Exhibition on Animals in Art, which will run from October 10-November 6, 2026. The exhibition is free and open to the public. The deadline to receive entries is July 15, 2026.

Colin Mitchell and Britta Leise

LSU Vet Med names interim dean and department head

LSU Vet Med has appointed Colin Mitchell, BVM&S, MS, DACVS, as interim dean, and Britta Leise, DVM, MS (LSU 2002, 1997), Ph.D., DACVS, as interim head of the Veterinary Clinical Sciences department. LSU will launch a competitive national search for the next permanent dean of the School of Veterinary Medicine. Details about the search process and timeline will be announced at a later date.
