Plans after doctorate: I am not sure what the future holds for me, but I intend to learn as much as I can throughout this process, while being a positive role model in my community.
Acknowledgment:
I want to thank Dr. Tyrslai Williams-Carter, and Dr. Warner of the BD fellowship program
for their guidance and continuous encouragement along this journey. I would also like
to thank my advisor, and Dr. Richard Thompson of the Lee group for allowing me to
volunteer in their lab before being accepted into the PhD program. They have taught
me so much, and I’m grateful for all of the opportunities that they bestowed upon
me.
Advice for future STEM students:
My advice would be to follow their passion, and never give up. Coming from an education
background, teaching math in Baker School district, I often felt that it was too late
for me to pursue a doctoral degree. Dr. Lee, and the BD fellowship program helped
me to tap into my full potential, and for that I will be forever grateful.
