Celebrating Emory Smith's Legacy
Featuring Bob Dillemuth
Sunday, October 4 | 2–3:30 p.m.
LSU Hilltop Arboretum | 11855 Highland Road | Baton Rouge
Help us kick off PlantFest! by exploring the plants and stories that helped shape
Hilltop Arboretum.
Join longtime Friend of Hilltop, dedicated volunteer, and lifelong plantsman Bob Dillemuth for a special presentation highlighting many of his favorite plants for Louisiana landscapes, along with many of Emory Smith's favorite plants that continue to grow at Hilltop today.
Bob's connection to Hilltop spans decades. His father was a close friend of Emory Smith, and Bob has spent years volunteering at the arboretum while cultivating many of the same plants Emory admired. Through stories, photographs, and personal experiences, Bob will discuss the plants that defined Hilltop's early landscape, where many can still be found throughout the arboretum today, and why they continue to deserve a place in Louisiana gardens.
Following the presentation, guests will enjoy a preview of the Hodge Podge Nursery and many of the plants that will be available during PlantFest! Throughout the nursery, look for the Emory Smith Legacy Plant seal identifying plants featured in the Emory Smith Legacy Collection. Guests may also enter to win a featured plant before joining the nursery tour.
Tickets: $20 for students and Friends of Hilltop members; $25 for the public.
