Christopher E. Kees
Chris Kees is the LSU Coastal Ecosystem Design Studio’s Director and a CSRS Distinguished Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at LSU. He holds a joint position in the Center for Computation and Technology and is a fellow of LSU’s Coastal Studies Institute. Dr. Kees graduated with a BS in Mathematics and Honors in European Studies before attending graduate school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He received an MS in Mathematics and Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Engineering. After completing a post-doc in the Center for Research in Scientific Computation at North Carolina State University, he spent fifteen years as a Research Hydraulic Engineer at the US Army Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory from 2005 to 2020. Dr. Kees has been conducting research in numerical methods, mathematical modeling, and computational engineering for coastal, hydraulic, and hydrologic engineering for over twenty-five years.
